Description: Long ago the nation of Androgharr was located just between this world and the Astral plane and affixed near what is now modern Ur. These people tapped the natural ley lines there to create some of the most powerful magical items this world has ever seen. The circle of majiks there drained the ley lines greedily and the Druids in the vicinity warned them of the dangers of stressing the flow of magical energies. The warnings were not heeded. Strangeness set in. The buildings and other infrastructure built with the raw magic from the ley lines began to take on lives of their own. Corridors trapped people for days, carts and rickshaws jerked during travel and crushed people. Some things downright came alive and attecked their owners. Ropes strangled, hammers mauled, and swords sliced. In a final effort to stop the madness, the Council of Majiks begged the Druid high priestess to help them. The city was evacuated and the combined power off the most powerful Wizards and Druids in the world rained fire and sulfur on the city of Androgharr.
Everything was destroyed in the fireball except for a few select items. One of these was what is now called the Molten Blade of Androgharr. It was rescued from the crater by an unknown party. Some say it was a Druid bent on eliminating arcane magic from the world while others insist that the weapon was taken by a demon born of the destruction that was wrought that day. However it went down, when the Pit was invaded by the celestial champions, the Molten Blade was wrested from the hands of a giant, red-skinned demon named Meklor and then found itself in the protection of the Eladrin. In 5599 it was found by the Astral Deva and pressed back into service for the protection of the natural string of magic.
This weapon is intelligent and quite powerful. It is found as an unformed hunk of slag five feet long and three inches around. When a person grasps it, the item grows very hot, melting itself to the hand of the person grasping it. The blade's ego scans it's new owner's brain and then forms itself into the shape of that person's favored melee weapon. A two-handed or one-handed weapon has cold iron and silvered properties as well as being a +1 weapon. A double weapon has the silvered properties on one side and cold iron on the other, with the +1 being dampened on the cold iron side. The weapon, at this point has used much of it's stored magical energies, but if the wielder dumps at least 8000 gp worth in enhancements into the blade, it awakens and presents its true abilities. The blade still had all the properties it once had, but the enhancement bonus increases to +3 (a double weapon does not have a bonus on the cold iron side and has +2 on the silvered side. The blade deals +1d6 extra heat and fire damage from both sides as the blade is entirely molten. Against arcane casters, the weapon deals another 1d6 damage (monsters that are said to have psionics, but use sorcerer casting are exempt from this). If the blade is manifested as a double weapon, then it deals the arcane bane damage only on the cold iron side of the blade.
The Molten Blade is also quite intelligent. It has Int 12, Wis 16, Cha 17. It is Lawful Good in alignment and has a very potent will. It has the ability to speak verbally and can see with darkvision out to 60 feet and has the hearing abilities of a normal human. The Molten Blade of Androgharr speaks common and celestial. The blade has the following abilities: Bless allies 3/day. Diplomacy +13. Detect magic at will.
The Molten Blade of Androgharr is priceless and no weapon like it has ever been made.
